AI - Future of Automotive Interior Sensing at IEE presented to Andreas Steier at IEE

News / July 12, 2018

On 12 July 2018, Andreas Steier, member of Bundestag for Trier and Trier-Saarburg regions, visited IEE. During his visit, he was presented with various projects on the innovative use of AI for generating synthetic training and testing data for automotive 2D and 3D camera systems.  The projects were carried out in cooperation with various regional universities and research centers.  Those projects represent an excellent example of cross-border cooperation and connection between research institutions and industries, essential for the successful development of autonomous vehicles.

"We see a great potential in using new AI methods to accelerate the development of complex sensor systems. However, one scientific challenge that we are currently facing is the implementation of the strict safety-related requirements into our sensor systems. Of course, this project would not have been possible without the support of outstanding academic partners from our region”, emphasizes Aloyse Schoos, CTO of IEE.
