IEE participates in Hannover Messe 2018 and unveils the new generation 3D Time-Of-Flight technology platform

News / April 27, 2018

At the Hannover Messe, IEE unveiled the new generation of 3D Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology platform, in the presence of Mr. Jean Graff, Luxembourg ambassador to Germany, members of Chamber of Commerce of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg representatives and other Government Officials.  This year, the world’s leading trade show for industrial technology’s theme “Integrated Industry – Connect & Collaborate” highlighted the interplay between automation and energy technology, IT platforms and artificial intelligence.

The new generation of IEE’s ToF Sensors will come with a significant smaller and improved design and will further reduce the installation and integration efforts. The devices will have a new firmware with enhanced data security capabilities, which complies with the European Global Data Protection Regulation coming into effect on May 25th, 2018. The new ToF Sensor will provide novel technological features such as increased image resolution and reduced energy consumption.

They will not only provide additional security layer in modern access control systems in the buildings and thus preventing unauthorized access to highly secured areas, but also will offer extremely high accuracy and enable applications such occupancy monitoring, wrong-way detection, flow monitoring and dwell time calculation.

The current Tailgate Detector (TDflexTM) and People Counter, designed and manufactured by IEE, are based on the optical 3D ToF technology. The TDflexTM provides an additional security layer in modern access control systems in buildings and thus prevents unauthorized access to highly secured areas such as data centers, banks and government buildings. With its unique tracking and segmentation ability, People Counter offers an accuracy above 99.5% and enables applications such as occupancy monitoring, wrong-way detection, flow monitoring and dwell time calculation.

“IEE offers people and object sensing solutions for Industry 4.0 in the areas of robotization, building management and automated guided vehicles” states Paul Schockmel, Vice President of Strategy, Business Development and Marketing.

The first prototypes of ToF Sensors are currently under development and will be released at the Security Essen in September 2018.
