Today’s vehicles have a larger number of functions than their predecessors – and these functions are becoming increasingly complex. It’s therefore important that they are simple and intuitive to use.
Gone are the days of one knob or button per application. Instead manufacturers use everything from multifunctional switches, through to touchscreens and gesture recognition. This removes the need for an unwieldy number of buttons and makes it easier for many consumers, as the operation is similar to that of a smartphone or tablet. But, given the demands and space restrictions in a vehicle, these interfaces need to be extremely robust, compact, and easy to integrate.
