Passenger Presence Detection (PPD)

Passenger Presence Detection (PPD) consists of a force sensitive sensor mat installed in the passenger seat to detect the presence of a passenger. In the absence of an occupant in the passenger seat, the airbag is not deployed and the seat belt pre-tensioner is not triggered, resulting in substantial savings for the vehicle owner by avoiding costly service repairs due to unnecessary airbag deployment.
