BodySense™

BodySense™ is a vehicle occupant classification solution for smart airbag deployment. It monitors a car seat for occupancy and classifies the occupant by using an electrical field sensor in the passenger seat. The system disables the airbag for children in child seats and unoccupied passenger seats and ensures airbag deployment for adults. The BodySense™ system also includes a seat belt reminder function.

BodySense™ targets static occupant classification in accordance with the U.S. National Highway & Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) regulation 208. It offers the perfect solution for low-risk capable airbags.

This next generation of BodySense™ combines heating and sensing functionality, and offers significant costs savings generated by the synergy of both technologies.
